How does it help you make less noise when you're walking?
When you're creeping/sneaking, why do you crouch down low?
The point of creeping/sneaking is to not be seen or heard. So people crouch down low so that they reduce the chance of making more noise by lifting their legs less, while behind able to hide behind things at the same time.
You have more chance of making more noise if you If you lift your legs (or hands, if you are crawling) higher before putting them down on the floor again. Try it. Walk around while lifting your legs higher in the air, then walk around lifting them lower. I bet you make more noise lifting them higher!
There is also less chance of being seen if you crouch down while creeping or sneaking. When crouching, you can hide behind things more easily.
