How can I keep Ivy from creeping through the fence into my yard?

We have a neighbor that has Ivy along their fences, and It keeps coming through the fence that seperates their property and ours. I do NOT want Ivy in my yard, what is the best way to keep it at bay?

Spray it with weed killer. We have the same problem at a rental house . I spray it with "Roundup".
Reply:Weed whacker would do it. Brushing on Roundup on the part that comes through would be useful.
Reply:The only way I know to do that is to walk the fenceline and cut it back. I had a gardening job that had ivy and I just trimmed it a couple of times a year to keep it out of the places that I did not want it. You could talk to the neighbors and maybe enlist their help in the trimming. That would be the nice way. If you were to spray it with roundup it would die but it wouldnt be very good for the neighborly relationship.
Reply:Keep snipping it back!!!!!!!
Reply:I Love Ivy but to each their own.

Could you put some type of barrier on your side of the fence.

I'm thinking like that black plastic border that people use along their flower garden to stop the weeds from invading the flowers.

It comes in a big roll which can be found at Home Depot or Lowe's. It's fairly cheap.
