Petrol prices are creeping up to £1 a litre. Are you happy about this? Is no-one willing to make a stand?

What you need is people to make a walk!

the petrol strike years ago didnt make a difference...

its a shame but i do think the government rule us and it duznt matter wot we say..sh*ite as it is
Reply:As in the older times the roads will be more and more free for the people rich enough to pay the high petrol prices.

The consequences of the global warming are for many a huge income of money.

Nevertheless me must do what we can to reduce CO2 emissions. As you know the USA and China don't contribute enough. So the efforts which will be made by the other countries will mostly be made in vain.
Reply:It is disgusting. Most of what we pay on fuel is tax and then on top of that we pay 17.5% VAT as well. It's a disgrace, but the government never give they only ever take.

:-)))
Reply:We cant be bothered .... the UK people have lost the will to fight ..sorry to say..... i run my car ( V70 Volvo TDi ) on Bio-fuel...@ 80p a ltr..!! ...one day we may wake up and start to make a stand against our Goverment doing us up the ar se .!!
Reply:(a) No, I am far from happy about it.

(b) No protest would make a difference. Remember the fuel protests of 7 years ago? The lessons have been learned (by the government), and they probably have contingency plans in place.

Someone made a good point about everyone using public transport, which obviously wouldn't be able to cope.

Another thing people could do, is just drive down to London one day. If enough people did it (completely legal), the gridlock would be massive and it would screw commercial life up. Anyone up for it?
Reply:some thing should be done but how can some thing so big be organized
Reply:Well, its all your own faults.

The federation of small businesses made a stand a few years back and requested the general public to support the action.

We were there.

Where the hell were the rest of you?

Too bloody idle to get off your backsides.

So now you pay, not only for your own transport, but also for everything that transport is used for.

I don't care anymore - I just add the increasing cost of fuel to my customers bills.

I have no sympathy for you whatsoever.
Reply:No of course no one is happy about it. I suspect that the only people who are happy are the government insofar that high fule prices SHOULD keep congestion in check but it doesn't work like that as we all want our freedom and the car is simply a part of everyday British life. I have just come back from Australia where petrol is about 55p a litre and it seemed very strange filling the tank for £20. Could we make a stand? I doubt it as there are so many variables that make up the cost of fuel. The only real solution is cheap and effective public transport so that we may minimise our car use. Even though I hired a car in Perth, they also have totally free 'CAT' buses that we used every day to get around town.
Reply:i think we should all do as the gov' want and use public transport, cos' anyone with a working brain cell knows the bloody country would grind to a halt. then people might get the balls to say no were not takig this shi* anymore.
Reply:$8 a gallon? I would be pissed. Here in california it is high at $3.50 a gallon (almost 4 litres to a gallon)
Reply:You expect it to go down? Scheeeeech
Reply:petrol needs to go up to pay for all the imigrants we have in this country if we sent them all back to where they came from petrol could go down to 50p a gallon because we wouldnt have to pay for them!!!
Reply:hi Techno

everybody says they would, but really they will not, because many people are scared to what may or may not happen, and usually back down to run around like herd animals, walking to and fro work, but not knowing to why ..
Reply:i don't care i get my fuel for free
Reply:make a stand, funny. get realistic loveen!
Reply:No, I'm not happy about the rise in petrol prices. More hybrid cars should be built to cut the comsumption of petrol.

I'll be walking to work in future if it reaches the £1 a litre price.
Reply:With respect to some answers, you have more chance of the Goverment letting us off with our PAYE Can you remember the Fuel Strikes? To a point all went on strike because of the increase in prices, I am an Ex HGV Driver, The miles i coverd per week was in excess of 2000, UK The company that ran the fleet of 1000 + Cement Tankers tried everything to increase the milage of the trucks to no avail, No-one stuck by the Haulage Industry in that strike, ( You have paid the price). Trebor
Reply:I honestly couldn't tell you how much petrol costs - all I know is that my car needs it so I fill it up. If I went up to £2 a litre I would still have to buy the stuff.
